UN Women's Empowerment Principles

The United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles are a set of Principles for business offering guidance on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community.

Pottinger is proud to be one of the first signatories of the Principles, and only the third company in Australia to have signed the statement of support.

The Women's Empowerment Principles seek not only to achieve equality for women in the workplace, but also strongly advocate that the result will be a very positive thing for individual businesses.  The seven principles are:

  • Establish high level corproate leadership for gender equality
  • Treat all women and men fairly at work - respect and support human rights and non-discrimination
  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all women and men workers
  • Promote education, training and development for women
  • Implement enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices that empower women
  • Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy
  • Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality

Pottinger both supports this global initiative and strives to adopt these principles in our own business practices.
